SORBENTS CARBOLAYN EFFICIENCY IN GROWING CALVES
Introduction. To increase the resistance of the organism and for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes we use complex medicines, mainly antibiotics based. While this is often observed negative impact of drugs on the formation of organisms. This forces us to seek safer methods. In this case, the use of sorbents in feeding calves is perspective. Sorbents are able to neutralize the influence of harmful factors on organism. They also help to improve the body's resistance and prevent diseases of the gastrointestinal tract of animals.
Thegoalofthework was to develop a method for increasing the body's resistance and prevention of diseases of calves in the early period of growth.
Materials and methods. For research group we formed three groups of calves (10 calves in each). We fed the control group with standard feed. Calves from research groups I and II were fed the biologically active additive – sorbent "Karbolayn". Calves of group I were fed supplement once a day (5.0 grams per head). Calves of group II ate the same sorbent dose twice a day (2,5 grams on morning and evening). We gave supplements for 10 days, adding it to milk. We determined in the serum of calves lysozyme, bactericidal activity, and content of circulating immune complexes.
Resultsofresearchanddiscussion.During the period of growing (up to six months) the rate of growth of group I calves was by 11.1% higher than in the control group. In group II calves the rate of growth was by 7.8% higher than in the control group. The highest difference in average daily increments observed in the age of one month. Calves of the control group who did not receive the sorbent grew worse and their average daily gain was 143 g or by 20.9% less compared to the calves from the group I. Because of the frequent disease rate, variability of weight of calves in the control group was significantly higher than in research group. At the age of 6 months, the weight of the animals from the experimental group was by 8.4% higher than in the calves from the control group, animals of group I was by 5.4% higher than in the calves from control group. When we fed calves with supplement once a day we noticed a higher rate of growth of calves, compared to a double feeding. The sorbent improved resistance of organism, reduced incidence of calves and was economically viable.
Conclusions and prospects for further research. The dietary supplement "Karbolayn" improved indicators of non-specific resistance and immunological reactivity of organism reduced the incidence of animals.Increased frequency of feeding did not affect the rate of growth of animals.Sorbent increased weight of calves in the age of 6 months to 8.4% compared to the control group. Net profit per head amounted to 149.0 UAH.
In further studies we will develop a method of increasing resistance and prevention of diseases of calves in the early period of growth.
