THE RESULTS OF SEROLOGICAL TEST OF CATTLE FOR CHLAMYDIOSIS IN UKRAINE IN 20162018

Introduction. Chlamydiosis of animals is infectious diseases of mammals and birds caused by Chlamydia. The disease causes significant economic losses, that why the disease is actual problem for veterinary medicine in countries with advanced animal husbandry including Ukraine. The article presents results of tests of cattle sera samples that were sampled in different regions of Ukraine in 2016–2018.

The goal of the work was analysis of the results of serological tests of cattle for Chlamydiosis in Ukraine.

Materials and methods. The total 12340 samples of sera of cattle were tested, which 2060 samples were tested in State Scientific and Research Institute of Laboratory Diagnostics and Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise and 10280 samples of sera of cattle – in the regional laboratories. For detection of presence of specific antibodies to chlamydia used complement fixation test (CFT).

Results of research and discussion. 12340 samples of sera were tested by CFT and 204 positive results were received. The prevalence of Chlamydia among the cattle population was 1,65%. Seropositive animals were detected in 14 regions (Vinnitsia, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Kirovograd, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Khmelnitsky, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv). However, the percentage of positive samples was different in different regions. The highest percentages of positive samples of sera were detected in Kirovohrad (12.32%) and Kharkiv (10.41%) regions, and the least–in Poltava (0.60%) and Ternopil (0.46%). 1051 serum samples (8.51% of the total) were tested from Donetsk, Zakarpattya, Zaporizhzhya, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Odesa, Kherson regions, and results were negative.

Conclusions and prospects for further research. According to the results of serological tests of cattle for chlamydiosis during 2016–2018 in 14 of 21 regions of Ukraine 204 positively responsive animals were detected, that is 1.65% of tested animals. The obtained data indicate on widespread of chlamydia among the cattle population. Therefore, conducting laboratory studies of the pathogen circulation in farm animals is important for veterinary practice.
